Why Countercurrent?

The more important question is, why “co-current?” Resin manufacturers have always said countercurrent regeneration of ion exchange resin results in better water quality, lower salt use and reduced waste. But, quite simply, designing and building a co-current valve is easier than designing and building a countercurrent one.

The Hydrus valve is the first top mount control that regenerates in a countercurrent format right out of the box. It produces better water quality than any other valve on the market, and it reduces salt use by more than 30 percent when compared to valves operating with co-current regeneration.
